background

This is nothing special, well to you anyway. I'm not a scrapbook type, or a baby book writer, or even a picture printer. I'm terrible at recording memories. This blog is my attempt at holding on to some of my life as a Christian, a wife, and a homeschooling Mom of 5. I am a country girl that lived in a big city for 14 years, and moved to the Deep South for quiet, quaint, small town living.

Still a good deal....

I got a great deal on these ThinkOrganic bars from Amazon a week ago.  Well, after trying them for the first time, I could barely choke down the initial bite.  Total grossness.  After looking at the description I saw that they didn't use any "taste" words until they wrote delicious in the 3rd line (of 4).  I guess it is like how manufacturers write the ingredients in order of how much they used.  Deliciousness is obvious just a pinch in the ingredients.

Well, you win some, you lose some, right?  Wrong, thanks to my little garbage disposal named Virginia- these will not go to waste!  She loves them (along with everything else we put in front of her!).  A healthy score after all!

Arctic Fun

We are studying Penguins this week.  After learning about the North/South Pole climates, Antarctica and it's location and attributes we decided to make a little model.  It didn't work out as I envisioned, but it was fun.

First we froze 3 baggies of water to make icebergs.  Once frozen we placed them in the Arctic Ocean (with added food coloring for a nice touch).  We noticed how much of the iceberg was underwater compared to how much floated above it.  The icebergs didn't show up very well though.  (Next time we will have to make the icebergs a white color.... will have to think about how to do that!)

Then, we added some of the fake snow we had leftover from Christmas.  It was the wet snow that you make by adding water, not the Styrofoamy stuff.  Well, it became more fun to pile it on and the whole ocean turned into jello-ish goop.  The icebergs were forgotten by then and we ended up with a texture project!

Guess we will be getting George a Puppy! (not any time soon!)

The baby looks healthy and has Stouffer genes.  We had a little trouble seeing all we needed for sonogram due to an uncooperative baby (hence the stubborn Stouffer genes I was referring to).  The sonographer was not sure enough to say the sex, but the Dr. came in and said 99% she was sure it was.....

a

little

*GIRL!*  (highlight to see)

The kids don't seem to care much.  Oh well.

We are thinking of family names again.  For now the name will be
*Margaret (Maggie) Raye Stouffer*

*Disclosure- the sex and name are subject to change, more permanent answers will be given in June.  Thank you for understanding  :)

Sonogram tomorrow!

Tomorrow we are going in at 19 weeks for routine tests and if the baby cooperates we will get to find out the sex!

* George wants a boy because his sisters "have pretty friends."

* Liv wants a brother so George will "have someone else to play with" because she doesn't like playing army guys.  (Of course this doesn't matter when she needs him to play with her princesses!)

* Virginia- I'm sure she won't want either when she finds out she is bring replaced!  ha ha

* Troy never cares one way or another.

* I am torn.  I think I like the girl name we have picked out best (and this looks like the last time we can name one of our babies- boo), but a boy would just help with the room/clothes situation.  Plus, George could use another boy to wrestle with!  But girls never really leave you.  Boys grow up, get married and that is that.  Girls seem to stay closer, and that is nice.  Good thing I'm not deciding the sex of this baby!

Reasons for having a BIG family

1. No one ever says, "I come from a big UNhappy family."
2. One of my offspring is bound to take care of me when I'm old.
3. You always hear, "I wish I would have had another child."
4. You never hear, "Ooops, one too many.  Dang"
5. I like the power trip.  Err..... I mean, the children are just so adorable.
6. Tax Refunds!!!

It became a Pocomoke Christmas

Try to contain yourself.  I got an awesome gift from my Dad.  Ready for this?
Pomocomokeopoly!
Yup, Monopoly with Pocomoke City pictures and places!
I told you to prepare yourself.

AND I'll be wearing this while I play it (thanks Carlie!).
In fact, the pic is not so good because I had to ask Liv to take the photo,
because I'm Wearing it now!

Now, I an not a gift person, but how can you not be happy with some Pocomoke gear and a fabulous Polish pottery teapot from one of my sweetest friends (everyone knows I ♥ Marcy).
Hmmm, Troy thinks I might actually start to like Christmas.....

We could never live in China.

How on earth do the Asians (and other rice eating people) do this every day?!  Her bowl was dumped in the beginning of dinner, but even when she uses her spoon well, rice just ends up everywhere.  Virginia loves to eat, but she just can't get all the sticky little pieces of rice by the end of the meal.  I usually try to evacuate everyone else from the dining room and let the rice dry out some before vacuuming, and while that works ok, I can't help but think there is a better way.  All Asians Speak Up!!!!  Let me in on your kids-with-rice secrets!

New Years Traditions!

The kids have been waiting, salivating, dreaming of the day they could..... eat black eyed pea soup! Ummm, I mean EAT their GINGERBREAD HOUSE! They do love some BEPSoup, but what kind of competition is it when cookies covered with icing and candy are involved?

Notice Ginnie saying, "oooohhhhhh!"

Who cares about the stinking gingerbread...... CANDY!
