background

This is nothing special, well to you anyway. I'm not a scrapbook type, or a baby book writer, or even a picture printer. I'm terrible at recording memories. This blog is my attempt at holding on to some of my life as a Christian, a wife, and a homeschooling Mom of 5. I am a country girl that lived in a big city for 14 years, and moved to the Deep South for quiet, quaint, small town living.

She loves her colors

It's official. Ginnie is a crayon eater. Not just an experimental taste here and there. She thinks it is a fun, waxy snack. Every crayon in her way gets chewed, slobbered on, and digested. It's all kind of funny, in a monstrous sort of way.

Puppies and Kitties!

Livia had her birthday party a week after Virginia's. She originally wanted a Princess party, but soon realized that many of her boy buddies would not appreciate it as much as she. A puppy and kitty party was a good solution. And saving me from having to make a bone and mouse cake was my Sissy who brought a sweet Smith Island 10 layer cake! Love her for that!

Fun party art! (Can't bring my self to call it craft!!!)

Some of the kids wanted their faces painted and wore ears.

All the kids played nicely outside

And the favors.....

Everyone had a great time! We painted, ate, played outside, broke a pinata (which looked pretty morbid after it was all over), opened presents and ate cake. Typical party but with great friends. Might be looking forward to the next one...

AHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhh! LOL

my way to chill....

Secret- I can pluck my eyebrows forever and it totally relaxes me.

But at the moment I'm brushing my teeth, blogging, and watching Step Up 2, while the kids nap. I'm totally loving it.

Another Day, Another Birthday!

On the 27th of July, Livia turned FIVE! Since Virginia's birthday and party were the day before, we stayed up late finishing Livia's present. I had bought some barbies from ebay and didn't notice that the listing failed to say "came from a smoke free home." Ugh. So I washed them and their clothes, and had to comb out and re-set their hair. I had only gotten 4 dolls finished before that night, so Troy became official barbie untangle-er while I got to style the hair and hot water set them.

Liv seemed pretty happy I think.

Then Breakfast! Leftover Cake (we added candles and sang to her, of course)

We traveled to Silver Pring to Brookside Gardens to visit the Butterfly house. It was wonderful! Everyone really liked seeing a million butterflies all around us, eating, resting, fluttering...

We then cooled off a little (it was HOT in the butterfly house) with a stroll throught he gardens. The rose garden smelled INCREDIBLE!

Lunch was at P.F. Chang's since Liv had always wanted to eat at the horse restaurant. :) It was a first for the whole fam. We out candles in her banana springroll and mango icecream too. We always carry candles and matches around on their birthday so we can sing all throughout the day.

I think it was a good day.

Virginia is ONE!

On her actual birthday, 7/26/09 we threw a little get together for Virginia. Livia had previously chosen a butterfly theme for her little sister, and you know how I like a good theme. :) We had pulled pork BBQ, Beef, and Ham on the side table. Mac-n-cheese, homemade coleslaw, crab dip, fruit veggies, cookie dough dip with ghram cookies, brie/goat cheese with different jam toppings, and 3 kinds of flavored almonds.

Her Godmother, Aunt Marcy made from scratch this incredible cake. Even the sparkly little gum paste butterflies and the intricate flowers! And it was amazing in taste too! Perfect pound cake with raspberry filling in between the layers.
Told you it was good!

Family, and those that might as well be. :)

Apricot Chicken

Made some yummy chicken.
(1/2 c. mayo, 1 jar aprcot jelly, 1 package of onion soup, all mixed up)
Pour over chicken (I used tenderloins)

Trying to use the plethora of squash......

Sliced them in half and placed face down in some apple juice. Covered with foil, baked for an hour.

Served with rice.
