background

This is nothing special, well to you anyway. I'm not a scrapbook type, or a baby book writer, or even a picture printer. I'm terrible at recording memories. This blog is my attempt at holding on to some of my life as a Christian, a wife, and a homeschooling Mom of 5. I am a country girl that lived in a big city for 14 years, and moved to the Deep South for quiet, quaint, small town living.

Togetherness

Occasionally I see all four of my kids doing something together.
I LOVE that.
I asked Liv to hold the baby while I switched the laundry and I came back to see this sweet scene.
Yes, all of them are in zippered, footie pajamas.
That is our school uniform!
Liv was reading to the kids, and George was holding the book for her and turning the pages.
I have no idea about the hat.....
Once in a while, Virginia's attention is even held!
I'm not sure how Maggie feels about it.
I'm guess she is hungry.
Maybe she has just heard that story 800 times.
I wonder how much they will read together when George reads independently....

She is one tough cookie!

I'm a little behind in posting this.  Things just got lost in the shuffle of uploaded pics.
When we took Virginia to get her cast off (it was a whole family affair)
we didn't know how it would go down.
Not that we didn't know the whole procedure, since we experienced it before with Liv, but how little Miss Stubborn would deal.
It could go to either extreme.
Mega fits or "yes, I'll allow you to do this for me."
Thankfully, she was more interested than scared.
Even baby Denise had her cast taken off.
They both were very brave and got treated to Friendly's for dinner and dessert after.

Stylin

We went to get Ginnie's cast taken off and George walks out the door looking like this.  Being the preoccupied, airhead of a Mother some days, I didn't notice until we were settled in the waiting room.

Yes, we have a scarf HE tied around his neck, all bunched up in a lovely quadruple knot, and the blue rain boots, because you never know when puddles might be in your way.
He was very satisfied with this ensemble.
I fear he has my clothing (lack of) style.
Help!

100 day!

We have come to another important day on the school calendar.  I don't remember celebrating this momentous occasion in school, myself, but hey- what's another reason to party?
We have reached our 100th day of school!
For Liv and George is means a few things.

They get to count out their 100 pennies that they have earned for each day of school, group them, exchange them for nickels, then dimes to spend at the dollar store.  (I spotted them the 6% sales tax)
Livia was in charge of filling out the 100 day chart this year.
George was in charge of filling in the calendar everyday.
For some reason, they were surprised that it was 100 day.
Not like we haven't bee counting down for 100 days!
It was interesting to see who just grabs the first toy they see, and who contemplates.
I knew Liv was a thinker, but it was funny to see George weigh his options.
Ginnie was perfectly happy with her play baby bottle from the beginning.
I could not get a good shot of them paying for their transactions, while wearing the baby, chasing after Ginnie, and not annoying the lady in line behind us.
Liv purchased a bag of toy lizards, George, and gun contraption that shot off foam airplanes, and Ginnie a bottle for her baby doll.

We had more counting/eating/partying planned, but it was the first nice day (70 degrees!) we forgot all about 100 day and played outside for the rest of the day.

George will be in charge of recording on the 100 chart next year for his Kindergarten work.

Area Rug

We are seriously blessed.
My sweet Uncle found and delivered great carpet for us to install.
Our sweet friend gave us a wonderful recommendation for a carpet installer dude.
(Who was awesome!)

We had some carpet left after putting it in 2 bedrooms, the hallway, and stairs, so Troy and I decided to use it for an area run in the living room.  It ended up being a big area rug!  I was going to roll it up during the warm weather months, but now I'm not so sure....

Anyways, Troy ordered some carpet binding online and we did it ourselves.  It doesn't look completely professional, but we are Ok with that.
It is a good, cheap way to have a little insulation on the main floor.
I can't believe how much quieter things sound!
We did it when the kids were in bed, but the kittens were just as curious as the kids would have been.
Oh yes, and my Uncle even got us padding!
See what I mean, not quite professional.  ha ha.
It was def a two person job.
Troy unrolled and held it, while I lined up the adhesive and pressed it on the bottom of the carpet.
He had to do that job, because I know I would have gotten mad at the obnoxious coil.
Troy is MUCH more patient than I.
The we glued it on.
I got to glue and Troy got stuck holding it together until it was secure.
He got more burnt fingers than me!
Some bonding time (no pun intended), a few red fingers, a blister or two later....
We had a bound area rug!

Now, who wants to paint????

Buddy and Jovie

Or Buh-ee-Dovie as Ginnie says and my sister got stuck in my brain!

They are more than surviving, they are thriving!

I love them not just because my kids love them,
or because they are quirky like us,
(they even eat spilled cocoa krispies, and meow at the ceiling fans)
but because there have been no signs of mice after a few weeks of getting our kitties!
Woot!
