This is nothing special, well to you anyway. I'm not a scrapbook type, or a baby book writer, or even a picture printer. I'm terrible at recording memories. This blog is my attempt at holding on to some of my life as a Christian, a wife, and a homeschooling Mom of 5. I am a country girl that lived in a big city for 14 years, and moved to the Deep South for quiet, quaint, small town living.

What's a Pully Bone?

When we were reading Misty of Chincoteague, we came to the part about the pully bone.
The kids had no idea what a pully bone was, but I was prepared.
 It is a wishbone!
Well, the kids have pulled a wishbone before so mystery solved.
We decided to act out the part of the brother and sister in the book.
As I was reading, they pulled at the same time the characters pulled and what do you know?
The bone broke the same way as the story!
They won't forget that part, I'm sure.

  1. This is funny. I'm a Christian, Homeschooling mom, and country girl living in the city. My daugther is reading Misty of Chincoteague and asked me, "What is a 'pully bone'?" I was not prepared, since I have never called it that. So, I looked it up on google images and the picture you took of the page in the book came up. Thank you for sharing the answer! I suppose it would have become evident eventually when she got to the part about the wishbone, but I think it's pretty cool to find the answer online this way. :D

  2. Ha! That is amazing! I grew up 20 mins from Chincoteague in Pocomoke City (mentioned in the book) so I knew the story already. What surprised me was that there are more books! I don't know how I missed that fact. It is great how the teachers get to learn all over again when homeschooling! Check out the movie too. Thanks for sharing that neat connection!
